Support zone: close above is a hit. Close on the level is a push. Graded on the regular-session close.
A support zone is a price below the market where a large amount of options positioning sits. The idea is that this positioning can slow a move down there, so the test is simple: does the stock close above it? When it was posted at 08:35 ET, BA traded at 192.5, 1.3% above the support zone. On the same map, the next level above was 200 and the next level below was 187.5. See the original post.
Price traded through the support zone during the session (first 5-minute close on the wrong side at 9:35 AM ET), with a low of 185.28 and a high of 190.76. In the last hour price moved up 4.48, from 185.89 to 190.37.
The regular-session close was 186.09, 3.91 (2.06%) under the support zone at 190. Under the rule (support zone: close above is a hit), that is a miss.
Boeing was still under pressure after the FAA said on Sep 28 it would delay certification of the 737 MAX 10 over a software issue. On Sep 30 it opened near 192, faded through the day, and closed under the 190 support zone and the 187.5 put strike. BA finished the day down 0.9%, while SPY was down 0.2%.
