Support zone: close above is a hit. Close on the level is a push. Graded on the regular-session close.
A support zone is a price below the market where a large amount of options positioning sits. The idea is that this positioning can slow a move down there, so the test is simple: does the stock close above it? When it was posted at 18:49 ET, ACN traded at 212.52, 6.3% above the support zone. On the same map, the next level above was 220 and the next level below was 180. See the original post.
Price traded through the support zone during the session (first 5-minute close on the wrong side at 1:40 PM ET), with a low of 198.50 and a high of 209.06. In the last hour price moved up 9.35, from 199.71 to 209.06.
The regular-session close was 198.94, 1.06 (0.53%) under the support zone at 200. Under the rule (support zone: close above is a hit), that is a miss.
Accenture gave back part of its record one-day rally (up about 16% on Oct 1 after fiscal Q4 results and a return to bookings growth). On Oct 2 it opened near 211 and slid about 6% as holders took profits, closing under the 200 support zone. ACN finished the day down 6.3%, while SPY was up 0.7%.
